 New journalist, long time traveler

Edith Gonzalez has just transferred to the School of Mass Communication and Journalism and is ready to take on Acadia as her first set of classes! Starting with paddle boarding and fishing at yearly family reunions at Garner State Park to now in her free time swimming at Rio Vista Park, Gonzales has a deep love for and history with the outdoors. 

Gonzales recalls her favorite trip to date was when her and her family visited Oahu, Hawaii in 2021. From the never-ending views of the beaches to the intensely rich culture of current and passed native Hawaiians, this remains on her mind as the best trip she has ever taken. 

Hailing from Eagle Pass, Texas, Gonzales is a senior at Texas State University hoping for an internship in Austin centered around journalism once she graduates in the Spring of 2026. While in Maine, Gonzales hopes she can accurately capture her experience in the park and is excited to gain new skills such as interviewing while flexing her creative muscles. Out of the many planned events, you can find Edith being most excited about the Sunset Cruise, being able to try the lobster rolls and our horse-drawn carriage ride.
