Maci Gambrell is a junior and a journalism major at Texas State University from Dallas, Texas. She is an older sibling and close with her family. This will be her first time going to a national park, but not her first time going to Maine. Last summer, she went with her family and got to enjoy the beautiful weather, skipping rocks, finding seashells, and seeing all the lighthouses. This is also not her first study abroad or study in America experience as she went to Italy last year and really enjoyed the experience gained from that. She also enjoys exploring new cities and places with her friends. Her family has been "glamping" before, and while she loved it, she recently got the chance to go camping and loved the experience without all the extras. She was able to appreciate nature and how beautiful it really is. She loves being outside and treasuring nature and how it was created. She is looking forward to this trip to have a chance to be more adventurous, explore more, and value the real outdoor experience by connecting with and being in nature. Maci is most excited for the photography on the trip, especially of the nature because of how pretty it all is, and she is looking forward to seeing the different plants and animals that can be found in the park. She is also thrilled to be able to improve both her writing and photography while building her portfolio. She is looking forward to the creativity this opportunity provides, and therefore, being able to produce work she is proud of.
