Broadening Her East Coast Horizons: Emma is Maine bound!

Emma Scheurer is a junior at Texas State University, where she majors in Digital Media Innovation with a minor in Business Administration. She’s originally from McKinney, Texas, which is about 30 minutes north of Dallas. Emma is enrolled as a full-time student, and also takes on many extracurriculars to keep herself busy and involved on campus. She serves as an active member of the Alpha Nu chapter of Omega Phi Alpha, a national service sorority. She is also on the executive board as the Service Director and contributes to the sorority on the Historian and PR Committee with another one of our classmates, Mallory Battista. Where one of them is, the other usually isn’t too far away. In addition to that chapter, Emma is a proud member of the Texas State Sirens, a women empowerment organization that promotes sisterhood, service, and support throughout the Texas State campus community.

This is Emma’s first time participating in a Study in America program, and she’s beyond excited for the opportunity. She’s grown up an avid traveller, visiting places along the East Coast like Florida and North Carolina, but she’s never travelled as far north as Maine. She’s especially excited for Maine’s cool weather and to get away from the Texas heat for a while.

Emma has a passion for mobile storytelling and is super excited to document the trip through photos and videos on her phone. She thrives in group settings too, this was super evident when meeting her through the SXSW Student Content team. She has a natural ability to make others feel welcome, which helps her make new friends easily.

Emma looks forward to meeting new people, exploring new places, and writing/documenting her experience on this trip.
